Ben Goodger, el principal ingeniero de firefox, cuenta en su blog algunas de las caracteristicas que tendrá Firefox 2.0, y también para cuando estará lista:

In order to ship a Firefox 2 around the middle of the year, we must be solidly feature complete by the end of Q1.A nivel interno, sigue basandose en la misma versión de gecko que firefox 1.5, asi que no va a haber grandes cambios.
